In 2020, Krishnan Mahadevan quit his lucrative job at Goldman Sachs, one of the world’s largest and oldest investment banking firms, to work full-time at Iyer Idly, a small eatery at Vignan Nagar in Bengaluru. He now sells over 50,000 idlis monthly besides vada, kesari bhath, and khara bhath. Each idli is priced at Rs 13 now, and it was Rs 1.50 in 2001 when his father, Mahadevan, had started the outlet.
