India is home to some spectacularly beautiful beaches. From Gujarat to Kerala and Odisha to Puducherry, many beaches offer mesmerizing views of the sunrise, sunset and coastal life. Some beaches, however, stand out for the cleanliness and sustainability measures.
The Foundation for Environmental Education, Denmark, gives a global eco-level tag to beaches that meet environmental, cleanliness, and safety-related criteria. These beaches are then called Blue Flag beaches, selected by an international jury comprising members of the UN Environment Programme, UN World Tourism Organization, the Foundation for Environmental Education and IUCN.
In India, these beaches are in Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Diu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Puducherry and in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
