Meghamalai: Tamil Nadu's hidden gem wrapped in mist

Meghamalai: Tamil Nadu's hidden gem wrapped in mist.

Meghamalai is a lesser-known scenic mountain range in the Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu's Theni district. It is a visual treat for travellers because it combines the raw beauty of untouched nature with the quiet elegance of cardamom and tea plantations.

Meghamalai captivates the eyes and the soul as the plantations ripple across the hills like a green ocean. The sight of neatly terraced plantations, bordered by mist-laced trees, is calming and surreal.

It's often called the ‘High Wavy Mountains’ due to its elevation (1500 m) and undulating terrain.

True to its name, Meghamalai (meaning mountain of clouds), the hills are often wrapped in soft mist, especially in the early mornings and late evenings. These cloud blankets drifting over treetops and valley floors create a dreamlike atmosphere.
